Vestry Meeting Minutes

The joint Meeting of the Vestry and Parochial Church Electors of Ilmer was held in the Church Room on the 12th of April, 1944, at 6 p.m. There were present - the Rev. W. O'Connor, Vicar, in the Chair, Mr. R.H. Attenborough and Mr. W.J. Harper, Churchwardens, and Mrs. Attenborough.

After the opening Prayer the Minutes of the Meeting of the 28th of April, 1943, were read, confirmed and signed. Mr. Attenborough was nominated by the Vicar as his Churchwarden; Mr. Harper was elected People's Churchwarden.

Mr. Harper presented the Financial Account for the year ending on the 31st of December, 1943, as follows:- Income - Balance from 1942, £7-14-2; Church Collections, Parochial, £18-9-8, Non-parochial, £16-17-0, Donations, £6-6-0; Total, £49-6-10. - Expenditure - Special Collections, £16-17-0; Electric Light (Church) 17s., (Church Room) 16s. 3d.; Rates, 12s. 6d; Window Insurance, 5s, War Damage Ins (Church, £1-5-0 Ch. Room 10/-) £1-15-0; Church Room (external), War Damage Insurance, 3s. 6d., Candles, 7s. 4d., Wine, 12s. 6d., Sundries, 10s., Lighting Fires, £1, Cleaning Church (1 quarter), 10s. Organist, £3, Clerk and Sexton, £3, Coal, £2-7-6. Credit Balance, £16-13-3. Total, £49-6-10. The Account was approved unanimously.

The financial Account of Ilmer Close Fund for 1943 was presented by the Chairman. Credit Balance £10-9-6½. Approved unanimously. The Chairman was requested to write to Messrs. Simmons and Sons asking where the Deeds are to be found.

Mrs. Attenborough informed the Meeting that the Church Room has been used as a Preserving Centre (as in previous years), and £3 has been received in payment; also that a special meter was temporarily installed and paid for by the ladies who have worked in the Room. The Chairman reported that £3 had been paid into Parish Funds. It was also reported that officers and cadets from Sandhurst have also been permitted to use the Room as dining-room and for cooking. There were six relays of men, the minimum being 20 each relay. Approved.
