Vestry Meeting Minutes

The joint Meeting of the Vestry and Parochial Church Electors was held in the Church Room, Ilmer, at 6, p.m. on the 16th of April, 1941. There were present:- the Rev. W. O'Connor, Vicar, in the Chair, Mr. R.H. Attenborough and Mr. W.J. Harper, Churchwardens, and Mrs. Attenborough.

After the opening Prayer, the Minutes of the Meeting of the 28th of March, 1940, were read, confirmed and signed. Arising out of the Minutes it was reported that the painting of the Church Room (exterior) had been satisfactorily done by Mr. Frank Rodgers, the cost, £6-12-6, being defrayed out of the Ilmer Close Fund. It was also reported by Mr. Attenborough that Mr. W. A. Walker had stated as his opinion that it was not necessary that the trees should be "topped".

Mr. Attenborough was nominated by the Vicar as his Churchwarden, and Mr. W.J. Harper was elected People's Churchwarden.

Mr. Harper presented the Church Financial Account for 1940 as follows:- Balance carried forward from 1939, £7-3-4; Receipts - Church Collections, parochial, £15-0-9; non-parochial, £14-12-5; Contribution from the Mothers' Union, 3s.; Interest, 3s. 9d. Total, £37-3-3. Expenditure: Church Collections, non-parochial, £14-12-5; Coal and Coke, £2-12-6; Electric Light, - Church, £1-6-0; Church Room, 17s.; Rates, 11s. 9d.; Hymn-book with music, 5s.; Prayer Books, 5s. 4d.; Candles, 3s. 5d.; Wafers, 2s. 4d.; Wine, 3s. 5d.; Insurance, 5s.; Sundries, 4s. 11d.; Cleaner, £1-10-0; Organist, £3; Clerk and Sexton, £5; Balance - in Bank, £6-3-9, in hand, 5d. Total, £37-3-3. The Statement was passed unanimously.

Mr. Harper undertook to be responsible for the cleaning and heating of the church. The Church Close account was on the table. Balance in hand, £5-0-6½. It was agreed that the Women's Institute should be asked to contribute to the cleaning of the Church Room (interior).

The meeting was closed with prayer.
