Ilmer Parish Meeting Minutes

The Annual Parish Meeting was held in the Parish Room Illmire on Thursday March 3rd 1932 at 7 pm.

To appoint a Chairman for the ensuing year.
To read and confirm Minutes of last meeting.
To nominate two men to serve as Parish Constables for the ensuing year.
To pass accounts.
To consider any other Parish business.

Present:- Mrs Elizabeth Goodchild, Mr Harry Goodchild and Robert Bailey (Clerk).

Motion of Sympathy A motion of sympathy was passed to Mrs Goodchild in the loss the Parish had sustained by the death of the late Chairman (Mr Albert Goodchild) and an expression of appreciation of his services as Chairman for a number of years was made.

It was agreed that Mrs Goodchild take the chair for this meeting.

Chairman ensuing year Proposed by Mrs Goodchild seconded by Mr H Goodchild that Mr George Gomme be appointed Chairman for the ensuing year.

Parish Constables It was agreed that the out-going Parish Constables be re-nominated namely:- Messrs Harry Goodchild and Geoffrey Brian Quint.

Accounts The Clerk presented the accounts of the Parish Meeting and it was resolved that the accounts as paid by the Treasurer to date be approved and that the Treasurer be authorised to pay any outstanding accounts as soon as the March Rents of the Cottages had been received. Accounts paid to date were as follows:- Wycombe R.D Council Rates on Parish Cottages 1/2 year ending Sept 30th 1931 £1/12/8. 1/2 yr ending March 31st 1932 £1-9-1. Commissioners of Inland Revenue Sch A Tax on Parish Cottages 1931/32 £1/2/6. Fire Insurance Parish Cottages 15/-. Audit Stamp 1930/31 5/-. Cheque Book 2/-.

Repairs to fence Parish Cottages It was reported that the wire fence fronting the Parish Cottages had been broken down by cattle belonging to Mr. Webber, and it was resolved that the Clerk write to Mr Webber asking him to repair the fence.

Thatching to Parish Cottages It was reported that as the District Council had not been able to render any financial assistance towards re-thatching the Parish Cottages that the work had now been completed by the widow of the late Chairman (Mrs Elizabeth Goodchild) in accordance with the wishes of the last Parish meeting that the Chairman be authorised to have the cottages made water-tight at as reasonable a price as possible. Mrs Goodchild expressed a wish that unless it was absolutely necessary a Precept should not be issued upon the Rating Authority in view of the fact that she was the largest property owner in the Parish but that she would be prepared to be re-imbursed the cost of Thatching by instalments from the balance of the Rents of the Cottages as they became due.

Vote of thanks to Chairman An expression of thanks was made to Mrs Goodchild for her offer and also for acting as Chairman at this meeting.

Financial Statement The Financial Statement of accounts for year ending March 31st 1931 was laid before the meeting.
