Ilmer Parish Meeting Minutes
The Annual Parish Meeting was held at the Parish Room, Illmire on Saturday March 6th 1926 at 6 pm.
To appoint a Chairman for the ensuing year.
To appoint Two Overseers of the Poor for the ensuing year.
To nominate two men to serve the office of Parish Constables for the ensuing year.
To pass accounts.
Any other business.
Present:- The Revd W. M Tuke, Messrs Albert Goodchild, George Gomme, Fritz Wm Kingham, Walter Edward Todd and Robert Bailey (Assistant Overseer).
Proposed by Mr. Fritz Wm Kingham seconded by Mr. George Gomme that Mr. Albert Goodchild be appointed Chairman for the ensuing year. Carried
Proposed by Mr. Albert Goodchild seconded by Mr. Walter Ed Todd that the outgoing Overseers of the Poor, namely Messrs Frederick Ward and Fritz Wm Kingham be re-appointed for the ensuing year. Carried
Proposed by Mr. George Gomme seconded by Mr. Albert Goodchild that the outgoing Parish Constables, namely Messrs Fritz William Kingham and Harry Goodchild be re-nominated to serve for the ensuing year. Carried
Proposed by Mr. Fritz Wm Kingham seconded by Mr. Walter Edward Todd that the accounts of the Parish Meeting for the past year be passed as correct:- Cheque Book 2/-. George Gomme, cleaning out ditch £1. Edward Barnard, New Well Frame & Cover at Parish Cottages 17/6. Robert Bailey Rates on Parish Cottages, half year ending Sept 30th 1925 - £1-14-1. Mrs Amy Williams, 2nd Instalment Sch A Tax on Parish Cottages 11/10. Robert Bailey Audit Stamp 1924/5 - 5/-. Messrs Parrott & Coales Fire Insurance on Parish Cottages 15/-. Robert Bailey Rates on Parish Cottages £1-14-1. Mrs Amy Williams 1st Instalment Tax on Parish Cottages 10/6. Carried
Proposed by Mr. Fritz William Kingham seconded by Mr Walter Edward Todd that the Footbridge leading to Cold Harbour Farm be repaired and that Mr. George Gomme be authorised to carry out the necessary work. Carried
It was resolved to ask the District Council for the ditch near the Pond to be piped and filled in and a Fence erected by the side of the Pond, also for two pipes or more if required to be placed in the open gutters on either side of the Illmire Road and the gutters filled in, to enable vehicles to pass each other in safety.
The Assistant Overseer was asked to notify the Ratepayers in the Parish by postcard of any Parish Meeting in addition to the publication of the statutory notice of the meeting
