Ilmer Parish Meeting Minutes

On Thursday March 21st a parish meeting was held at the house of Mr. Cook. There were present Rev. J. Varley, Chairman, Messrs R. Belgrove, A. Hill, Thomas Goodchild F. Kingham, Geo. Gomme, Geo Belgrove, D. Cook. On the proposal of Mr. Belgrove seconded by Mr. Hill Rev. J.E. Varley was re-appointed Chairman. On the proposal of Mr. Goodchild seconded by Mr. Gomme Messrs R. Belgrove & D. Cook were appointed Overseers for the ensuing year. On the proposal of Mr Alfred Hill seconded by Mr. Geo. Belgrove Messrs Goodchild & F. Kingham were re-appointed Constables. It was an expressed wish of the meeting that the Overseers should see whether the parish Award Map was in existence & if so where it is kept.

Mr. Geo Gomme complained of the state of the foot-bridge leading to Towersey. It was decided that Messrs R. Belgrove F. Kingham & D. Cook form a committee to meet Mr. Gomme on the spot to see what ought to be done with reference to the bridge, and also to report upon the state of other foot-bridges, & stiles in the parishes.
